June is the month to celebrate fathers, and those of us at the GLP Diner want to help! We come from a long line of family-owned and operated businesses, so we know just how important family is to the world. This month, we’re sharing some of our favorite ways to celebrate Father’s Day.

Do something fun! Dad doesn’t want to sit around the house all day, every day, and neither should you! If you and your father need to reconnect or just build up your already strong relationship, try doing a fun activity together. For some, this can be an active event, like hiking, parasailing, or boating. For those who aren’t as active, a night out at a play, a tour of a museum, or a day spent on hobbies might be the perfect way to spend time.

Give gifts that keep on giving. Does dad really need another tie? Does he smile at gifts and then leave them to gather dust? Try a gift that keeps on giving! Treat Dad with a gift certificate to the Lincoln Park Diner and revisit your father’s day celebration again—or, let him choose to spend it with his poker buddies! When you give gifts that keep working, the person who receives the gift is reminded over and over again how much you mean to them.

Do something for him. If your father is a project-based guy, he might be less interested in going out for fun and more interested in finishing up his garden or other project. Stop by and help, even if it’s not your favorite thing to do, and share those teaching moments.

Capture memories. One of the best ways to build strong relationships is by reflecting on the great times you have had in the past. This year, consider setting up a Father’s day gift that memorializes your father’s fathering experience with a photo album (print or web-based), or scrapbook that reminds you both of the great times you’ve had already.

Of course, if you’re looking for a classic way to celebrate Father’s Day this year, take him out to a great meal at George’s Lincoln Park Diner!
